Description Summary and purpose of position: We are seeking a highly skilled developer with leadership capabilities to take on a new software asset recently acquired by the business. This role will help build a team of developers to transition the software from external provider to internal development team. The software product is critical to the success of the business within logistics transportation, so you will be required to become an expert in the existing product within a short time frame and work with the product owner to deliver the future product roadmap. Ensuring development teams are monitored and progress in their skill sets in line with the objectives set out by the Head of Development. Supporting the EyeQ Products Manager in the scoping of software features to fulfil colleague and customer requests. Collaborating closely with senior stakeholders to understand business requirements and effectively translate them into technical requirements for the development team Planning and documenting comprehensive technical specifications for features or system design, ensuring a clear roadmap for development and implementation Designing, building, and configuring applications to meet business process and application requirements, leveraging your technical expertise and problem-solving skills Directing the development team in all aspects of the software development life cycle, including design, development, coding, testing, and debugging, to deliver high-quality solutions Writing testable, scalable, and efficient code, leading by example, and setting coding standards for the team Conducting code reviews and providing constructive feedback to ensure code quality and adherence to best practices Mentoring and guiding junior team members, fostering their professional growth, and encouraging the adoption of industry best practices Ensuring that software quality standards are met by enforcing code standards, conducting rigorous testing, and implementing continuous improvement processes Collaborating with cross-functional teams to align technical solutions with business goals and deliver effective and impactful software applications Staying updated with the latest technologies and industry trends, continuously enhancing technical skills, and driving innovation within the development team Experience, Skills, and Attributes: · A grounded knowledge in ITILv4 best practice concepts. · Understands Agile, Scrum and Kanban project methodology. · Experience within an agile team working under pressure in a live environment. · Experience within a Helpdesk environment. · Experience with software development, particularly Angular, AWS and mobile app development on Android and IOS. · Experience with developing applications within Google Play Store and Apple App Store. · Experience with automated testing frameworks and CiCd pipelines. · Experience with GITHUB code repositories. · Experienced at handling and managing difficult situations. · Positive, confident, and proactive mindset. · Self-motivated. · Ability to build rapport and strong relationships quickly. · Taking ownership and following through for issues which arise. · Proven problem-solving capability. · Ability to manage tight deadlines with excellent attention to detail and organisational skills. · 3 years’ experience leading a software development team (desirable).
