About the opportunity Energy Power Programmes are delivering client critical works to some of our major UK and European Projects. Our embedded teams are delivering support to Hinkley Point C (New build power station in the South West), Sizewell C (located in the South East), helping develop technologies in SMR (Small modular Reactor) capability and working towards building Poland's first Energy Power station. Working in both client facing and internal roles we are delivering major programme and project management capabilities throughout the project lifecycle. Amentum are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our team and support a wide range of projects involving mechanical calculations, design assessments, and stakeholder engagement. You don't need to meet every single requirement listed below to apply - if you have some of the relevant skills and are keen to develop in this area, we'd love to hear from you Key responsibilities will be: - Perform mechanical and piping calculations to support engineering designs - Gather and analyse input data, update hypothesis notes, and prepare loading description reports - Conduct mechanical stress analysis on electrical supports such as cable trays - Engage with internal and external stakeholders to implement engineering modifications - Use hand calculations to assess the feasibility of proposed modifications - Review and check calculation notes and drawings - Identify and propose improvements to existing processes and designs Qualifications - Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a similar engineering/science discipline - Working knowledge of Eurocode, ASME, or RCC-M standards - Proficiency in 2D and 3D design software - Strong interpersonal and communication skills - Ability to produce clear and accurate technical documentation - Good organisational and time-management skills - Desirable, background or experience in nuclear engineering, familiarity with electrical design principles and programming skills, especially in Python Our Culture Our values stand on a foundation of safety, integrity, inclusion and diversity.
