SF Recruitment are working with a business based in Birmingham who is looking for a Purchasing Assistant to join the team.
Salary: GBP29,000
Location: Office based - Must have some purchasing / buying experience
Role
The main purpose of this job role is to assist the Purchasing Manager in the preparation and organisation of all purchases, ensuring supplies are obtained in a timely manner.
1. Liaising with suppliers on a daily basis by e-mail and telephone.
2. Following up and monitoring outstanding orders to ensure delivery dates are met.
3. Maintaining weekly schedules, updating a range of schedules externally (suppliers, customers) and internally (sales team and technical team), and reconciling against the computer system.
4. Liaising with the warehouse for goods-in bookings, maintaining paperwork and system data.
5. Stock level monitoring.
6. Tracking and tracing shipments, liaising with shipping forwarders for shipping documentation and delivery bookings.
7. Document management and filing.
8. All other day-to-day general administration.
Candidate
1. Highly computer literate, able to manage data and produce documents to the highest standards.
2. Excellent maths skills, numerate and accurate.
3. Very good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other software packages (e.g., Microsoft Word and Photoshop).
4. Exceptional attention to detail.
5. Able to work from own initiative with a high degree of organisational skill.
6. Quick to learn with a Can Do attitude.
7. Able to work under pressure.
8. Ability to communicate effectively via telephone, email, and face to face.
