Master Technician (Days)
We need you!!
If you love being a vehicle technician but you’re thinking “I fancy a change”, “I want more variety” or “I want better hours”, then we may just have exactly what you’re looking for!
You’ve probably seen some of our 56 vehicles driving around Chester, transporting our fantastic customers across our network every year.
Those customers rely on our services to get them to work, to the high street, to hospitals, to days away and nights out – and as part of our engineering team you’ll be a key part in making sure our vehicles are in tip top condition to do just that. It’s a really important role within our depot, so we’ll make sure you’re as looked after as our vehicles are!
You’ll have the responsibility of maintaining and repairing our fleet of buses in Chester, part of the near 400 we operate across Merseyside, Cheshire & South Lancashire. Vehicles range from buses including Dennis, Scania and Optare. We have invested (& continue to do so) in new buses, and thus there’s some state of the art vehicles to work on.
Don’t worry if you’ve not worked on these vehicles before (or indeed buses) – we’ll train you on everything you need to know, and you’ll be supported by a great team of Fitters, fellow Technicians, Electricians and Engineering Managers who all pull together to do a brilliant job.
And it’s not all depot-based work. You could find yourself out and about dealing with vehicle issues on the road, so it won’t always be the same four walls you’re looking at!
Aside from the reward of helping to deliver an incredible experience to our customers, there’s plenty more we can offer:
* Job security – we’ve been going since 1980, we turn over £1.3bn and we’re not planning on hanging our boots up anytime soon!
* Free travel – for you and your companion on our buses. That means on your days off you can be off shopping for free without worrying about parking the car, or heading off for a day in the city without paying a fortune in petrol or train fares!
* A great regular income and great benefits – £19.71 per hour, £250 joining incentive – Receive £1250 after 3 months and the remaining £1250 after 6 months. Plus a good pension scheme to look after you after you’ve hung up the spanner!
* Promotions – perhaps you’re happy sticking as a Master Technician and that’s fine by us, but if you want to progress we’ll support you every step of the way. You will be given exposure to work which will develop your skills and experience to allow you to progress your career further. Many of our Stagecoach Merseyside, Cheshire & South Lancashire Engineering Managers started off as Master Technicians – so that could very well be you in the not too distant future!
* Training – a dedicated high level training programme to reinforce the skills you already have and an opportunity to gain a qualification in another trade!
You don’t have to come from a bus background (but we wouldn’t be put off if you did either!), but you will need to have worked in an engineering technician field – truck, haulage, automotive, plant, rail, farm – if it moves, it’s good experience for working on buses!
