This role involves supporting carers over the telephone and face-to-face. This may take place at Signpost’s building in Heaton Moor, at a community space or in the carer’s own home.
In addition to this, the Carer Support Worker will have the opportunity to become involved in other areas of the organisation’s work, promoting the work of the charity, supporting Moneywise, attending community information days and promotional events.
It is important to have experience of working with the general public before taking on this role. An understanding of the impacts and challenges of being an unpaid carer is also really important. The successful candidate will need to be able to manage a complex and varied workload. You will need to have excellent communication skills, being empathetic and flexible, whilst always being mindful of professional boundaries.
