Position Overview: As a Consultant in Adult Psychiatry, you will provide expert psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment to adult service users, addressing a wide range of mental health disorders and concerns. You will play a pivotal role in leading the delivery of high-quality, person-centered care while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to promote recovery and well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead the provision of psychiatric assessment and treatment to adult service users, including diagnostic evaluations, medication management, and psychotherapy.
2. Provide clinical leadership and supervision to multidisciplinary teams, including junior doctors, nurses, psychologists, and social workers, ensuring the delivery of effective and holistic care.
3. Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments and risk assessments, formulating and implementing individualized care plans based on evidence-based practice and patient needs.
4. Engage in collaborative care planning and discharge planning, liaising with external agencies and community services to facilitate seamless transitions and continuity of care.
5. Participate in clinical governance activities, including audit, research, and quality improvement initiatives, to enhance service provision and patient outcomes.
Qualifications:
6. Medical degree and full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC).
7. Completion of specialist training in Psychiatry and accreditation as a Consultant Psychiatrist.
8. Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists or equivalent professional body.
9. Substantial experience working as a Consultant Psychiatrist in adult mental health services, demonstrating expertise in assessment, diagnosis, and treatment.
10. Excellent clinical skills, including communication, assessment, and management of mental health disorders in adults.
11. Strong leadership, teamwork, and decision-making abilities.
