Job Summary:
The Multi-Skilled Maintenance / Production Engineer ensures high standards of machine and process efficiency by adhering to safe work practices, enhancing maintenance schedules, and supporting lean production principles. This role includes managing breakdowns, optimizing equipment design, and ensuring equipment meets production KPIs. Key responsibilities involve establishing a critical spares system, maintaining infrastructure, and ensuring health and safety compliance.
Additionally, the role requires conducting risk assessments, developing SOPs, and assembling and inspecting production parts when needed.
Key Responsibilities:
* Safety & Compliance: Ensure a safe working environment, following health and safety policies and implementing safe working practices.
* Maintenance & Repairs: Develop and implement planned maintenance for electrical and mechanical systems. Provide coverage for breakdowns and focus on maintaining high equipment efficiency.
* Continuous Improvement: Lead continuous improvement projects for production efficiency, supporting the deployment of lean manufacturing techniques.
* Spares Management: Implement a critical spares management system to optimize availability and cost control within the maintenance budget.
* Documentation & Inspection: Assist in creating SSOWs and SOPs, and inspect and assemble production parts as needed, signing off on electrical work.
* Risk Management: Collaborate with the production team on risk assessment, emergency procedures, and safety drills.
* Cross-Functional Collaboration: Build positive relationships with team members and external contractors to achieve project objectives and production goals.
Skills & Qualifications Required:
* Must be electrically qualified with the 18th Edition certification.
* Completion of a four-year electrical apprenticeship is required.
* Strong understanding of safety and health requirements.
* Experience in developing planned maintenance systems and SOPs and SSOWs.
* Lean experience is desirable, especially in continuous improvement and 5S practices.
* Ability to interpret written and verbal instructions.
* Strong numerical skills and attention to detail.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Skilled in electrical fault-finding and repair.
* Ability to carry out mechanical repairs and maintenance.
* Proficiency in PLC programming, fault-finding, and problem-solving.
* Pneumatic and hydraulic system troubleshooting experience.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
* Attendance and punctuality in line with organizational standards.
* Achieve high safety and cleanliness standards, as measured by weekly 5S audits.
* Meet or exceed equipment efficiency standards to support production goals.
Aim of the Role:
To maintain and improve machine and process efficiency, inspect controls for finished goods, and support production team goals in line with operational requirements.
Training & Development Requirements:
Achieve Green Belt in LEAN6SIGMA.
Maintain required electrical qualifications for testing (18th edition).
