Job summary The Musgrove Park ENT department is looking to recruit a full or part time Specialty Doctor to join the existing team.The level of the post is equivalent to ST4 registrar level and a minimum of 3 years ENT experience is required. A suitable level of post graduate ENT qualification is required (examples include, but are not limited to, EBEORL-HNS, DOHNS, MRCS-ENT, FRCS, DLO). The successful candidate will be a full member of the team and there may be opportunities in the future for an appropriate level of independent operating but it is not anticipated that this will be the case immediately. Our job is likely to be of interest to candidates who are currently on a traditional training program who wish to change to a permanent career grade position (on the Specialty Doctor contract) or those who have held previous suitable career grade jobs in ENT. Appropriate administration and SPA time will be included in the official job plan. Main duties of the job To provide several ENT outpatient clinics per week with indirect supervision as appropriate to clinical skill/experience level. Have some responsibility for ENT inpatients, ward round participation and supervision of other doctors (F2, Junior Fellow). Have responsibility for emergency treatment clinic care for acute referrals. Have some responsibility of operating time in theatre. Have the opportunity for training in outpatients if desired. Have some opportunity for assisting in theatre. Contribute to the teaching and training of junior staff and medical students. Have responsibility for ensuring active participation in continuing medical education. Actively participate in both departmental and trust matters concerning clinical governance and audit Attend meetings as appropriate. Fulfil duties of weekly timetable. To work a 1:6 on-call rota commitment. The shift timings are 0800-2115 for week days and weekend days. Currently there are no nights on-call but this is subject to future change.
