Job Description
We are looking for a Senior Property Underwriter to join our London Major Risk team. The team is responsible for writing London Market Retail Property business, across company and where necessary Syndicate paper. We have an Open Market book consisting of a mixture of UK and European domiciled clients with a global footprint and some UK/European binder business.
Our appetite spans a broad range of industries with a focus on primary lead/follow multinational, though we also write shared and layered deals on both a proportional and non-proportional basis.

Your role:
* Underwrite insurance risks in alignment with the Business Plan and personal authority to achieve business objectives
* Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including customers, brokers, and colleagues, to maximize influence and support business goals
* Develop strategic relationships in line with the Business Plan to facilitate the achievement of objectives
* Ensure compliance with insurance strategy to mitigate risk and achieve business plan targets
* Participate actively in shaping and developing strategy, knowledge, and best practices within the team.
* Promote the department, division, and company brand positively to leverage brand equity effectively
* Ensure adherence to all legal and regulatory requirements to meet obligations
* Maintain underwriting standards, instructions, and best practices to minimise risk and enhance efficiency
* Stay updated on market dynamics and demonstrate market cycle awareness to operate effectively
* Motivate and develop the team by demonstrating good leadership behaviours and management best practice so as to support the achievement of business goals
About you:
* Proven experience in the property insurance market, demonstrating a strong understanding of industry dynamics
* Commercial acumen to grasp key profit drivers and maximize long-term wealth for shareholders
* Intermediate proficiency in relevant software, including Excel and other departmental tools
* Excellent organisational, prioritisation, and interpersonal skills
* Strong negotiating skills with an innovative approach to underwriting and program design
