Job Title: Financial Controller

Contract: Full time, Permanent
Salary: £30,000 - 35,000 + excellent benefits
AJ Connect is thrilled to be representing a stunning 19th century hotel & leisure club, based in the outskirts of Aberdeen, for a Financial Controller position.
The role will entail oversight and overall responsibility for the production of the monthly financial accounts as well as ensuring daily functions are being completed.

Key Responsibilities will include:
1. Ensuring timely and accurate recording of financial transactions.
2. Ensuring daily functions are being completed at hotel level, i.e., revenue reconciliation, daily banking reconciliation, invoice capturing, invoice sending, debt collection, stock monitoring, etc.
3. Loading of supplier payments & approval.
4. Loading of payroll file to bank to pay staff & related HMRC payments.
5. VAT reconciliation and submission to HMRC, ensuring payment is processed.
6. Oversight of, and overall responsibility for, the production of the monthly financial accounts for the allocated hotels operating companies as well as the associated property company.
7. Effective and timely distribution of internal reports.
8. Ongoing review, development, implementation, communication, and monitoring of financial controls and processes, supporting all key financial transaction processes.
9. Balance sheet control reconciliations, ensuring completeness, relevance, and accuracy of all ledgers, bank reconciliations, supplier reconciliations, and fixed asset register maintenance.
10. Intercompany reconciliations.
11. Year-end budgeting and forecasts.
12. Review of significant transactions to ensure policy and accounting standard compliance.
13. Managing the year-end financial close processes.
14. Managing stakeholder relationships.
15. Working closely with the other Financial Controllers and Cluster FCs within the wider hotel management to drive effective ways of working, sharing of information, managing stakeholder expectations, and role modeling effective leadership behaviors to encourage the teams to perform to the best of their abilities.
16. Developing a positive and productive working relationship with the commercial finance team to drive a proactive and value-adding finance function.
17. Answering ad hoc queries from stakeholders and internal clients relating to payment processes, company credit card, and expense claims.
18. Actively contributing towards the drive for continuous improvement, looking to maximize operational efficiency and improve upon standard operating procedures for all systems and processes.
19. Completing self-assessment internal audits for related sites.
20. Assisting with any finance department project.
Skills and Experience
1. Strong technical accounting knowledge.
2. Expertise and finance experience.
3. Prior working experience maintaining books of accounts through to Trial Balance.
4. Ability to communicate and influence at all levels.
5. A strong ability to manage business/workflow priorities across a number of stakeholders.
6. Team player and able to work proactively with a wide remit.
7. Ability to work under pressure and under own initiative.
Desirable
1. Previous similar experience working within the hotel sector is advantageous.
2. Qualified accountant.
