Role Description: We are on the lookout for an Assistant Accountant to join our Financial Food division here at Princes! This is the perfect opportunity for Finance graduates with around one year in industry or elements of work experience throughout your degree.
The core of the role will be to assist the Senior Operations Accountants in ensuring the financial accounts of assigned sites and SBA's are produced impartially, on a timely, accurate, and efficient basis, and that all necessary procedural controls / policies are duly implemented and observed.
The role is based at our Head Office in Liverpool City Centre, but due to the nature of the geographical locations a driving licence will be essential for the role. You may be required to travel once a month to Wisbech and Long Sutton.
Principal Responsibilities:
* Assist in the production of monthly management and financial accounts in accordance with prescribed formats, timescales and procedures.
* Creation of manual and automatic accruals/provisions/pre-payments for all cost items.
* Posting of payroll journals once received from the Payroll team and agency. Understanding variances and investigating any issues.
* Production and posting of BBE provisions for the Ops department and challenging any commercial decisions.
* Review of overhead cost centres, full understanding of the cost profile and presenting results to factory management team.
* Raising purchase orders and posting adhoc journals as required.
* Assist in the creation of assets, monitoring asset under construction balances and capitalising in line with company policy and depreciation of capital projects.
* Provision of financial data and analysis to operational management, Finance Managers or Group Finance as required.
* Assist in the reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts at prescribed frequencies.
* Presentation of financial information to factory management team.
* Production and justification of factory budgets and forecasting for responsible areas.
* Interpretation, communication and enforcement of Group rules, policies, and procedures.
* Identify opportunities to reduce lead-times for the production of management accounts via an ongoing plan of process improvement.
* To maintain product Food Safety, Legality, Integrity, Authenticity and Quality standards by ensuring all associated policies and procedures are adhered to.
Role Requirements:
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
* Studying for a professional qualification
* Previous experience of manufacturing would be advantageous
* Proficient in Excel
* Experience of SAP
* Able to work to tight deadlines
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
* Strong analytical skills
* Good organisational skills
* Proactive being able to use initiative and react quickly
* Ability to deal with staff and management at all levels
* Willingness to travel / drivers licence.
