Role overview:
The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) program is a field-based role specifically designed to support the in-depth, technical information needs of the wider Medical Affairs teams. Adhering to all governing internal and external requirements, procedures, and laws and always demonstrating good judgment. MSLs recognise and communicate feedback and insights of strategic importance by facilitating scientific exchange between industry and the scientific community.
Responsibilities:
1. Maintain and effectively communicate deep scientific knowledge.
2. Engage in continuous learning to maintain the highest level of technical expertise within the therapeutic area they represent.
3. Establish themselves as a reliable, trusted resource of unbiased, accurate, up-to-date, medical and scientific knowledge.
4. Excel at customer engagement and support medical/scientific information needs of scientific experts.
5. Engage in mutually beneficial 2-way dialogues with Scientific Experts.
6. Provide support externally and internally including providing support for research studies, congresses, facilitating IIT, and may provide TA training.
7. Effectively communicate complex data and feed back meaningful clinical insights to Lilly medical and cross-functional teams.
8. Demonstrate strategic analysis, territory mapping, planning, and prioritisation to maximize efficiency.
9. Implement and evaluate a strategic territory plan prioritising core MSL activity.
Requirements:
1. Advanced degree in Health Sciences (PhD / MD/ PharmD in a medically related field) with at least 2-3 years of relevant haematology clinical or therapeutic experience.
2. Field-based position requires the applicant to live on territory (North England or Scotland) and the ability to travel to meet HCPs.
3. Haematology experience within areas of interest to Lilly. Additional experience in solid tumours is preferred.
4. Previous experience as an MSL in Haematology/Oncology.
5. Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills, including high emotional intelligence, excellent presentation and communication skills.
6. Ability to leverage an omnichannel approach in engagement with external experts.
7. Learning agility and intellectual curiosity within the field of Science/Medicine.
8. Ability to work independently and remotely, effectively managing multiple priorities and projects.
9. Resiliency in managing complex challenges.
10. The highest ethical standards, with a working knowledge of relevant clinical regulations and industry standards.
Additional Skills/Preferences:
1. Familiarity with health systems, academic communities, medical research, and the medical education process is highly valued.
2. Masters or Bachelors degree in Health Sciences (e.g. BSN, RPh, PA, NP) considered with at least 5 years of industry experience (Medical Affairs preferred).
3. ABPI code examination to be completed within 1 year.
