Flexible Working: In addition to full-time (36 hours per week), term-time and part-time (minimum coverage of 3 days) may be accommodated. Role Overview: Architecture and technology leadership is crucial to MI5's ability to move at pace and deliver the strategic technology change we need to stay ahead. We need technology leaders to help set and deliver our ambitious technology strategy. We are moving into a product-centred organisation and, as we evolve in this direction, we need senior technologists to help us develop our capabilities ensuring we are making the best use of recent innovations in technology as well as pushing these barriers further with our internal engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead and manage product and product group level technical architecture, delivering and prototyping new secure, scalable, and robust capabilities.
2. Own and manage technical risk for the product groups and support product teams in their technical decisions and designs.
3. Set the strategic direction for products and technologies and guide decisions on future products, platforms, or services.
4. Ensure alignment of vision with engineers and senior stakeholders, acting as a force multiplier to improve speed of delivery while managing technical and compliance risk.
5. Maintain coherence across the wider organisation's product landscape to ensure systems work well together.
6. Bridge the gap between technical and non-technical stakeholders, making decisions on risk and technology strategy.
7. Provide support, leadership, and direction to aid the development and growth of others through coaching and mentoring.
8. Contribute to wider organisational strategy or governance initiatives.
Qualifications:
1. Experience leading multiple successful product deliveries using methodologies such as Agile.
2. Experience turning business problems into technical designs, including designing complex solutions and evaluating different technical/commercial options.
3. Ability to lead the development of technology roadmaps with empowered product teams.
4. Ensure system architectures are robust, scalable, and secure, delivering a high-quality user experience.
5. Good communication skills and a passion for continuous learning.
Salary and Benefits:
£77,800 - £86,400 (dependent on skills, experience and location) with opportunities for additional allowances and benefits including:
