Job summary This is a new appointment offered by Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUHT) for a 10 PA Consultant Physician in Palliative Medicine. You will join 6 other consultants within the specialty of Palliative Medicine. You will participate in the Palliative Medicine Consultant on call rota with a frequency of 1 in 7 weekdays and 1 in 7 weekends. This will be second on call with prospective cover. NUH is currently undergoing restructuring with a move from 6 divisions to 4 Care Groups and fewer Directorates. The specialty of Palliative Medicine will sit in Care Group 1, Directorate 4, alongside Healthcare of Older People, Infectious Diseases and OPAT, Rheumatology, Clinical Allergy and Immunology, Diabetes and Endocrinology, Neurology and Stroke. Main duties of the job The appointee will be expected to fulfil the following duties with the agreed Job Plan. Provision with Consultant colleagues of a comprehensive elective and emergency Palliative Medicine service. Provision of reciprocal cover for periods of leave. Continuing responsibility for the care of patients in his/her charge and the proper functioning of the department. Clinical work will focus on: Providing care for 6-7 patients on the inpatient unit and supporting medical team Contributing to the hospital palliative care team service at QMC MND clinic at QMC Delivering a Palliative Medicine outpatient clinic at Hayward House Covering the palliative care advice line in hour Each consultant is expected to take an active role in clinical governance activities including (but not restricted to) clinical audit, incident reporting, review of complaints, risk management, CPD and Evidence-Based Practice. Each directorate has a Consultant Clinical Governance lead.
