The IT team provides support for all electronic communications systems on-site, as well as taking a leading role in delivering technology change & improvement projects and managing support of operational and corporate IT systems.
Effective and efficient IT support services are critical for the business to operate at all levels.
This role sits within a small team of IT support staff who monitor, maintain, and support all IT systems and users, both on site and working remotely.
An IT Systems Engineer is required to be responsible for both the delivery of infrastructure projects and the ongoing support of our clients server infrastructure.
The role focuses on ensuring the smooth operation, modernization, and security of IT systems while contributing to various business-wide projects.
This position is designed for IT professionals with previous experience in 2nd or 3rd-line infrastructure support within medium to large organizations.
As an IT Systems Engineer, you will be instrumental in maintaining and enhancing existing IT infrastructure.
Your role will involve the deployment of new technologies, improvement of existing systems, and ensuring that all operations align with industry best practices.

Main Duties: Install, configure, and manage VMware infrastructure components and Windows servers.
Manage virtual machines, storage, and network resources within the VMware environment.
Configure and manage Azure and Office 365 Cloud environments to a high standard.
Monitor performance and availability, conduct optimizations, and ensure infrastructure security.
Be a technical lead/resource on various infrastructure-related projects by developing and implementing new technical designs and be a point of escalation for technical risks.
Support the development of the IT infrastructure strategy in conjunction with the IT Infrastructure Manager and IT Cyber Security team.
Conduct Proof-of-Concepts to steer and deliver service improvements.
Monitor & maintain storage capacity, backups, and patch management.
Be the point of escalation for critical incidents relating to IT infrastructure.
Coordinate with infrastructure vendors during critical incidents and improvement planning.
Provide cover for the IT Infrastructure Manager as needed to ensure good levels of service performance.
Develop and provide technical coaching and mentoring to members within the IT team.
Create, maintain, and update procedures and training documentation for the IT team.
Member of the infrastructure on-call rota.
Key Requirements Essential A least 3 years’ experience in a previous IT Infrastructure role in an enterprise environment.
Extensive experience with Windows server, Microsoft 365 services and VMware.
Experience configuring and monitoring compliance policies within Office 365.
Strong understanding of LAN/WLAN networks and Firewalls.
Experience deploying and maintaining critical systems in Microsoft Azure.
Extensive experience with PowerShell scripting.
Excellent troubleshooting skills to investigate and resolve issues related to servers, storage, virtualisation, Cloud problems.
Experience using and implementing infrastructure monitoring solutions.
Experience leading technical teams during project delivery and incident management.
Excellent collaboration skills to effectively work with colleagues, users, and stakeholders.
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and able to communicate effectively at all levels in the business.
Willing to invest time, effort, and energy to learn & develop new skills and capabilities.
MCSA or equivalent Microsoft certification.
VCP or equivalent VMWare certification.
All relevant permits to work in the UK and security clearances (up to or over CTC).
Desirable Knowledge and hands-on experience with Docker/Kubernetes Knowledge and hands-on experience with Palo Alto firewall configuration Knowledge and hands-on experience with other Cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) Prince2 Foundation or other equivalent project management certification If you are available and interested in this opportunity, please apply for further information.
