Job Description
As part of the specialist Quality Control team to ensure the quality of our products meets the high standards required by the Company.
Key Responsibilities:
* Identify any handling and packaging issues, suggest improvements and report directly to the Quality Control manager.
* Work closely with the Logistics distribution team to ensure all shipments are processed within a set timeline.
* Maintain high levels of stock management to ensure all pieces are stored safely and correctly.
* Carry out a meticulous quality control check on all shipments not checked by our 3rd party QC teams to ensure each inspection meets each technical aspect expected of the standard set by and expected of De Beers Jewellery (DBJ).
* Spot checks/acceptance sampling for all externally checked shipments (by DBJ authorised QC teams).
* CoC – invoice check and update.
* Record daily each technical aspect of each piece on the appropriate technical sheet/SAP, and provide feedback to suppliers on any inspection faults.
* Record on SAP the weight, number of diamonds, the carat, CoC, assay – all relevant product details.
* Responsible for accuracy of all details which will finally be recorded to confirm the quality expected of De Beers on the customer purchase diamond certificate.
* Responsible for checking all pieces with the original tech sheet, and provide feedback to suppliers when concerns or issues are identified with a key commitment to continuous improvement.
* Assist the QC Team Leader and Quality Control Manager in monitoring and reducing internal/external failure costs.
* Communicate and agree on work to be carried out to hallmark each piece, working with the London and Sheffield Assay offices to ensure De Beers is compliant and each piece is completed to DBJ and worldwide requirements.
* Perform metal analysis (XRF) checks on all inbound shipments and create reports quarterly.
* Carry out the submission of samples for hardness testing every quarter.
* Collaborate with Merchandising and respond in time to customer requests for pieces.
* Oversee all SynthDetect checks to ensure all quality standards are upheld, maintain the KPI sheet and create an analysis based on these findings.
* Carry out quality checks for all products returned from DBJ franchises and escalate for joint decision-making on items to be returned to supplier or local workshop for any repairs required.
* Oversee the logging and processing of scrap on a quarterly basis. Regularly compare reclamation services and monitor metal prices to ensure best price is obtained.
* Cleaning ultrasonic and general office duties.
* Maintain stock accuracy and assist with bi-annual stock take.
Qualifications
* Microsoft Office and Outlook – intermediate
* Intermediate Excel & SAP system and Oracle is beneficial
