Overview
The Credit Analyst (Leveraged Credit) is responsible for the ongoing analysis of assigned sectors within the Fort Washington corporate bond and loan portfolios. Analysis will focus on both industry and company-specific fundamentals as well as relative value, risk positioning, and security-specific trade ideas that support the overall client mandate.
Responsibilities
What you will do:
* Research assigned credit sectors and evaluate fundamental characteristics, trends, opportunities, and risks therein, collaborating with peers across the firm’s investment research teams.
* Present timely purchase, sell, and position sizing recommendations regarding security selection and sector allocation to portfolio manager(s), trader(s), and credit research team(s) with a focus on relative value and strategy objectives.
* Stay current on industry news, trends, and controversies within assigned coverage areas, providing relevant updates to the credit research team(s), portfolio manager(s), Head of Credit, and CIO(s).
* Function as the “sector PM” for assigned sectors, working directly with portfolio manager(s) to determine positioning within fixed income strategies.
* Cultivate and maintain relationships with external research, sales, trading, and industry management teams.
* Understand third-party total return and internal insurance asset-liability management (ALM) fixed-income portfolio strategies.
* Contribute to team discussions of corporate credit valuation and strategy, collaborating with portfolio manager(s) and peers.
* Work with portfolio manager(s), account administrators, operations, and marketing staff within Fort Washington.
* Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all policies and standards.

* Bachelor's Degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a quantitative-related field - Required
* Master's Degree MBA - Preferred
* One to three years of proven successful experience in fundamental credit and/or equity analysis - Required
* Demonstrated experience effectively influencing a group to a recommended course of action - Required
* Proven track record of outperformance.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Proven ability to interact and communicate with all levels of staff and management.
* Strong analytical skills.
* Ability to conceptualize and use new methodologies.
* Ability to work under multiple deadlines and minimal supervision.
* Strong quantitative and mathematical skills.
* Desire and initiative to strive for continuous improvement and excellence.
* Strong team orientation with examples of going above and beyond to assist team members.
* Proficient in Bloomberg and Microsoft Office applications.
* Strong Excel modeling skills; VBA knowledge a plus.
* Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) - Preferred
Work Setting/Position Demands:
* Works in an office setting and remains in a stationary position for long periods while working at a desk or in meetings.
* Requires the ability to verbally communicate and exchange accurate information regularly.
* Requires visual acuity to read and interpret various correspondence and documents.
* Requires the ability to prepare written correspondence and reports using prescribed formats.
* Requires the ability to apply logical thinking to define problems and draw valid conclusions.
* Involves substantial movement of wrists, hands, and fingers for continuous computer work.
* Extended hours required during peak workloads or special projects/events.
