An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Male Assessment & Treatment Forensic Inpatient Mental Health Service for an experienced and motived Occupational Therapist to join a dynamic and innovative Occupational Therapy and wider Multi-Disciplinary Team. The post will be based on Ward 2 at the Newsam Centre. The Newsam Centre has a wealth of resources, including a range of therapy rooms, to support the work of the Occupational Therapy Team. The post is advertised for 37.5 full time hours per week.
We are looking for an individual who is:
o Enthusiastic about occupation and its role in mental health.o Able and willing to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service.o Passionate about working with this client group.o Able to work within a team and offer leadership support to colleagues and the wider forensic service.o Willing and able to provide supervision and support to the wider occupational therapy team and the MDT.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work within the multi-disciplinary team to provide assessment, treatment and support discharge planning. LYPFT utilises the Model of Human Occupation framework to inform the overall assessment and formulate recovery plans for those within the service. Effective MDT clinical leadership drives the service and aspires to equip clinicians with a versatile and comprehensive skillset in order to provide compassionate and therapeutic care. The role of occupation is recognised and valued on the ward. The assessments and interventions provided by Occupational Therapists are an important part of this therapeutic offer, provided both individually and in groups. You will bring your knowledge, skills and experience to effectively plan and support effective transfers to the community. Successful candidates will be offered structured supervision, appraisal and opportunities for professional development within the workplace.

* DipCoT, BSc OT, MSc OT or other relevant OT qualification and evidence of 18+ months experience as a qualified occupational therapist.
* Evidence of preceptorship completion.
