What the job involves Provide financial insight, analysis, and advice to Education and Learning, Children’s Social Care, and Early Help services within the People Directorate. Lead the development and implementation of Bracknell Forest’s local funding formula for schools, including preparing reports on mainstream, special school funding, and the Dedicated Schools Grant. Collaborate with the Strategic Business Partner, Executive Director, Assistant Directors, and budget holders to deliver effective financial and decision-making support, enhancing efficiency and accountability. Manage and oversee the production and critical appraisal of financial reports, including monthly budget monitoring, performance reports, and annual budgeting processes. Deputise for the Finance Business Partner when appropriate, ensuring holistic financial support services to the People Directorate. Ensure compliance and accuracy for statutory returns, and provide technical financial advice across service areas within the Directorate. Participate in financial initiatives ensuring effective management arrangements and an internal control environment are established. Lead Level 2 initiatives requiring interpretation and implementation of technical changes in accounting practices, briefing stakeholders and addressing contentious financial issues. Offer comprehensive financial advice and insights into major projects and contracts, focusing on identifying and managing financial risks.
