We have been fortunate to gain additional funding to expand our Occupational Therapy service provision to the Neonatal service at NUH. This is a relatively new service, and an exciting area to be working in with lots of opportunity for learning and meaningful service development as it takes shape.
You will also be working closely with our Neonatal AHP colleagues in Physiotherapy, Speech & Language Therapy, Dietetics and Clinical Psychology, and the wider MDT to deliver a comprehensive Neonatal service supporting the developmental and family-centred needs of those in our care.

Main duties of the job Early intervention and individualised infant care, using a Family Integrated Care approach on the Neonatal Unit (NNU) aims to reduce the developmental risks for infants born prematurely or with perinatal problems.
As the Specialist Neonatal Occupational Therapist you will:
Utilise advanced skills and support to facilitate high quality, individualised care to infants and parents/carers in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, at all times ensuring that the needs of the infant and their family are placed at the centre of care delivery.
Demonstrate active participation and leadership in projects and activities that support developmental care and the unit’s priorities.
Be engaged in clinical evaluation and audit activity in partnership with the wider AHP/Unit team.
Demonstrate a commitment to evidence based practice
This post supports both our in-patient Neonatal units at QMC and City campus where you will be required to will work cross-site. You may be required to see Out-patients as this role and service develops.
As part of the wider Childrens Occupational Therapy team you will be asked to support a rostered weekend working service to support our more straightforward MSK in-patient discharges. This is approximately 1 on-call morning every 2 months. We will support you to ensure you have the basic competencies to do this confidently.

Throughout NUH we have a diverse range of AHP and support staff who work together to deliver the high quality care we aspire to. You will be supported to access; relevant training and learning opportunities, supervision, and support from the East Midlands Operational Delivery Network for Neonates.
You will be supported by a Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist and a part-time Highly Speciality Occupational Therapist, as well as the wider Childrens Occupational Therapy team.

As we embark on this expansion we are now looking to recruit to a full time permanent Band 7 Highly Specialist Occupational Therapist (37.5hours) We will support part-time staff applications at a minimum of 0.6wte (22.5hrs/week) working Monday- Wednesday (plus any additional days pending WTE)
