Main Duties & Responsibilities
As the Director of Engineering you will be responsible for:
* Protecting the Company’s interests in the building, plant and equipment, ensuring the safety of guests, visitors and colleagues.
* Establishing and implementing a room maintenance programme in accordance with Claridge’s standards and budgetary expectations.
* Supervising and managing the performance of all Claridge’s contracts to ensure effective and efficient service level agreements are in place and achieved.
* Ensuring proactive and effective follow up across departments on a regular basis on all engineering matters and works outstanding, planned or anticipated.
* Working closely with all Hotel departments, particularly Housekeeping, Guest Relations and Front Office, to enhance delivery towards guest experience and satisfaction of guest needs.
* Observing the energy efficiency of all equipment, creating actions or initiatives for improvement or replacement of energy inefficient equipment.
* Being fully aware and taking ownership of the Chief Engineer responsibility and practices with respect to Health and Safety.
* Complying with safe working practices as specified in the Health and Safety Act 1974.
* Identifying opportunities to improve the profitability of the department through controlling wastage and being responsible for the economy of all utilities and resources.
* Providing effective leadership throughout the department, developing a robust structure and strong team culture.
* Holding regular meetings with direct reports and conducting formal performance appraisals at least annually.
* Monitoring compliance with procedural requirements as per the Hotels’ Health and Safety Policy.
