Key Purpose / Areas of Responsibility
Key Purpose of Role:
The key purpose of this role is to support existing and continued development of manufacturing software systems inside the manufacturing facilities. The role will be an extended resource for the Software Development Groups in Sydney, Noida, and China. The role will have a close working relationship with New Product Implementation (NPI) and be implementing and validating new and/or upgraded software tools into the facility. Technical knowledge is required relating to measurement processes that will enable support and troubleshooting of test systems failures and product defect issues.
To avoid downtime and increase production output, the Manufacturing Software Engineer must be able to work independently, possess the power to make necessary judgments, and have strong drive to continually evaluate, enhance, and streamline new and existing manufacturing processes.
Areas of Responsibility:
* Support the design, implementation, validation, and ongoing improvement of test equipment used in the manufacturing of metering products. Focus on code review, robustness, and efficiencies.
* Development of technical documentation to support the introduction of new test systems and processes (test specifications, work instructions, and others) in line with company requirements.
* Ongoing manufacturing process system support, fault finding, root cause analysis, and implementation of the remediation requirements.
* Technical investigation to support the resolution of product failures related to supplier quality issues.
* Facilitation of NPI related activities into the manufacturing system in the manufacturing facility (CCSP and others).
* Be the single point of contact for software-related issues in the manufacturing areas of the facility.
* Other responsibilities as required.
* Ensure the equipment being used in the testing of products is fit for purpose and has the necessary safety requirements implemented.
* Maintain awareness of identified and potential health and safety, quality, and environmental aspects of your work and their impacts including the reporting of any health and safety and environmental accidents/incidents/near misses or hazards.
* Maintain existing technical documentation.
* Introduce technical documentation to support the introduction of new test systems and processes (software manuals, test specifications, work instructions, and others).
* Manage Energy Better: Consciously drive for continuous improvement in reusing, recycling, or reducing waste.
* Act responsibly to meet the objectives/requirements at the appropriate level as described in the Health, Safety and Integrated Management Systems.
Key Metrics
* On-time delivery of projects and within budget.
* Implementation of Engineering Change Requests relating to software changes and qualification of changes before rolling out within specified SLAs.
* Efficient resolution of issues related to system failures, products, and equipment.
Professional Experience (years)
* Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience working in a manufacturing environment.
* Programming capability in C++, C#, MSSQL is mandatory.
* Experience with management & control tools TFS and SharePoint.
* Ability to work in a team and/or individually.
* Good written and oral communication skills.
Qualifications and Additional Requirements
* Bachelor of Engineering in either Software, Mechatronics, or Electronics or Bachelor of Computer Systems is preferred.
* 5 years’ experience incorporating testing, database, connectivity, User Interface (UI).
* Understanding of electrical principles.
* Understanding of electronic measurement concepts.
* Working knowledge of C++, C#, MSSQL languages.
* Computer skills including proficiency in Excel, Word, and other MS Office applications. Knowledge of software Visual Studio IDE is desirable.
