Junior Java Developer - JP Morgan - Glasgow - Consultancy opportunity - Hybrid
We are seeking a Junior Java Developer with some exposure to Amazon Web Services (AWS) to join JP Morgan in Glasgow on a consultancy basis via Robert Walters.
As a Junior Java Developer at JP Morgan within the Public Cloud Enablement & Adoption team, you will be an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. Drive significant business impact through your capabilities and contributions, and apply deep technical expertise and problem-solving methodologies to tackle a diverse array of challenges that span multiple technologies and applications.
Job responsibilities
Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
Collaborate with other cloud platform engineering teams to enable the delivery of high-quality, secure, and scalable applications on the cloud
Staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in cloud technologies and bring in recommendations for adoption and implementation of new tools/technologies.
Ensure compliance with security and regulatory requirements for the cloud.
Proactively identifies hidden problems and patterns in data and uses these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture.
Being a good team player and assist junior team members and create collaborative environment
Troubleshoot and debug issues in production environments and provide timely resolutions
Ensure code quality through unit testing, code reviews, and continuous integration
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and applied experience.
Proficiency in coding in Java is essential for this role.
Experience with AWS services, including ECS / EKS, MSK, DynamoDB and Lambda is highly advantageous.
Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages.
Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle.
Solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security.
Demonstrated knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.).
Desirable qualifications, capabilities, and skills
AWS certification are highly preferred.
Experience in using Kafka on Cloud/AWS experience
