You will be working within the thrive model “getting more help” by providing direct interventions to children and young people with moderate to severe mental health difficulties. You will support both professionals and young people in accessing relevant internal and external services to promote self-help where this is deemed to be appropriate.
As a CAMHS practitioner, you will have an active role in providing assessments and interventions to children and young people with moderate to severe/enduring mental health needs, working within the remit of relevant guidelines, for example, NICE guidelines. You will be involved in carrying out assessments (including risk management) and actively holding a caseload, where you will have the opportunity to deliver person-centred effective treatment and interventions, with the aim of helping children and young people develop skills and strategies to enable them to thrive.
You will work directly with children and young people with mental health needs, as well as their carers/families and additional support networks including schools, social care, voluntary, and partnership agencies to ensure a holistic approach to facilitate positive outcomes of care in relation to young people's mental health needs.
You will have the opportunity to develop your supervision skills through the supervision of junior members of staff and students, and you will be fully supported by a multidisciplinary team including psychiatry, psychology, family therapy, and occupational therapy to assist with clinical decision making and establishing further needs that may be best met within a different discipline.
You will receive regular managerial and clinical supervision and yearly appraisals.
