18 month secondment opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Diabetes Specialist Nursing Team for a highly motivated and enthusiastic band 6 nurse to work within our diabetes specialist nursing service.
The role involves both ward based work and outpatient clinics.
The post is 37.5 hours (5 days per week, 7 day service).
Main duties of the job
Act as a credible and professional role model and encourage and empower other staff members to deliver high quality care to patients admitted to hospital with diabetes. To provide holistic care as a key member of the diabetes team and contribute to all multidisciplinary team working. Ensure that nursing practice is in keeping with the NMC Code of professional Conduct and that level of care reflects evidence-based standards and the Trust's Policy and Procedures. Participate in research and clinical audit within the field of diabetes, both locally and nationally and to disseminate any research findings.
Raise the profile of the diabetes service within the Trust. Identify own continuing education and professional development needs and in conjunction with line manager, actively engaging in continuous professional and personal development activities to maintain high standards of specialist practice. Acknowledge limitations of own practice, seeking advice from senior colleagues and from an established national network of clinical experts where needed to ensure safe and effective care delivery.
Contribute to developing the Trust's nursing agenda and vision. Attend annual appraisal as agreed with the line manager.

Qualifications
Essential
* Educated to degree level
* Proficient in the use of Microsoft office: Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint
* Professional training delivery qualification or equivalent experience of delivering and facilitating in challenging environments.
* Portfolio of certified/accredited professional development activity undertaken in relevant areas
* Experience and/or qualifications in the specific area
Desirable
* Experience of working in a diabetes specialism.
* Non-medical prescribing qualification
