We are currently looking for an Equalities Development Officer to join our Partnerships and Inequalities Team. This role will suit a strategic and collaborative individual with effective relationship building skills with a knowledge and genuine interest in equalities.
About the role
Located within the Chief Executive’s Service, the Development Officer will play a key role in leading, developing and coordinating Renfrewshire Council’s approach to equalities. This includes providing strategic support to Chief Executive, Corporate Management Team and elected members, including specific support to the organisation’s transformation and financial sustainability programmes.
About you
We are looking for someone with proven experience of providing leadership and strategic direction around equalities and a passion for advancing equality of opportunity in Renfrewshire.
It is essential that you have significant experience of working in policy or practice relating to equalities, policy or strategy development and working in local government or similar diverse organisation. You will have significant experience of communication and reporting at strategic level with Chief Officers, preparing written policy and/or research briefings and as well as experience of effective, corporate, cross-service collaboration.
It is also essential you have knowledge of the legislation and policy relating to equalities, as well as effective organisational and IT skills, the ability to analyse complex information, and effective communication, interpersonal, negotiation and influencing skills. You will be educated to degree level or have an equivalent level of experience. It is essential you have experience of co-ordinating and leading initiatives, as well as performance management, project development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation skills.
It is desirable that you have substantial experience of leading projects with a demonstrable record of achievement, experience of working with elected members and senior officers, and in partnership with external agencies. It is also desirable that you are able to operate at a national level, representing the Council and able to plan strategically at an appropriate level.
