Are you an experienced RSW with shift lead experience, or a Team Leader within a Residential Setting?
You will be working as a Team Leader in our 12 bedded Adults residential service in the heart of Derby Centre. You will be caring for Young Adults between the ages of 17 – 65. The service provides complex care and support for individuals who have severe learning disabilities, acquired brain injuries and complex health needs who require 24-hour specialist care and support.
About the Role
As a Team Leader in our 12 bedded Young Adults residential service in the heart of Derby Centre, you will be caring for Young Adults between the ages of 18 – 65. The service provides care and support for individuals who have severe learning disabilities, acquired brain injuries and complex health needs who require 24-hour specialist care and support.
You will assist the management team in maintaining a safe and enabling environment that provides positive experiences to children and young people. Managing the health needs of our young people forms a significant part of the service that we provide and are firmly committed to meeting the very unique and individual health care needs of our young people.
This is a hands-on, shift-based role. You will be leading the shift and supervising staff whilst still providing direct support to the young people in your care. You will be contracted to work 38 hours per week, covering various shifts – 7am – 2pm, 2pm – 10pm or long days, and your rota will include working at weekends.
Key Responsibilities of a Team Leader:
1. Maintain a safe, caring, and consistent environment for young adults.
2. Ensure that RSW staff are adequately supported in their personal development and training.
3. Ensure that the healthcare, educational and welfare needs of the young people are consistently being met.
4. Promote and engage in positive relationships with Local Authorities and other agencies.
5. Assist the Registered Manager in conducting RSW supervisions, performance reviews, and appraisals of staff.
6. Support the management team with weekly/monthly rotas, auditing and record monitoring.
7. Deliver sensitive, high-quality support tailored to individual needs.
8. Empower individuals to achieve personal goals, build confidence, and gain independence.
9. Promote equality and diversity, and assist in the service’s smooth operation.
10. Support individuals’ health and educational needs.
11. Encourage the development of life skills for independence.
12. Plan and participate in leisure activities.
13. Act as a keyworker, supporting individual care plans.
14. Follow all policies, procedures, and legislative requirements.
15. Participate in ongoing professional development.
