As the Planning Lead for the SMC Rail Power JV, a Siemens Mobility and Costain Joint Venture, you will oversee the planning function, managing the development of the contract schedule, coordinating reporting requirements, and ensuring alignment with HS2 standards. Your role will involve collaborating with various functional teams, guiding the planning team, and driving innovation in the planning process.
You’ll make an impact by:
* Leading and supervising the Planning team, ensuring the application of SMC JV planning standards and relevant software across the project.
* Developing and maintaining the contract schedule using Rolling Wave planning techniques, monitoring progress, and reporting potential issues and delays, along with mitigation measures.
* Developing and implementing planning strategies for both short and mid-term needs, ensuring effective integration with project teams.
* Coordinating with functional teams including BIM, design, risk, and project controls, and promoting continuous improvement across the planning processes.
* Overseeing planning workshops and collaborative planning sessions to enhance team collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.
* Liaising with external stakeholders, including the client’s planning team, to ensure the sharing of best practices and the integration of innovation into the planning process.
* Managing schedule risks and assessing mitigation strategies.
* Leading the development of the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), calendars, and associated dates aligned with project requirements.
* Overseeing interface management with various project functions to ensure planning integration.
* Providing leadership and development to the Planning team, ensuring skills, competencies, and a culture of collaboration.
* Promoting innovation, equality, diversity, and inclusion within the team.

* Leading a team of planning professionals to successfully manage complex project schedules.
* Ensuring that the planning approach aligns with project objectives and milestones.
* Driving innovation in planning tools and techniques to optimize project delivery.
Minimum Requirements:
* A degree in civil engineering or an appropriate professional qualification.
* Significant experience in senior planning management roles, particularly in multi-disciplinary teams.
* Expertise in Primavera P6, Tilos, and Cost and Resource Loading, with a proven track record in implementing Earned Value Management tools.
* Strong leadership and communication skills, with a thorough understanding of safety, environment, and risk management.

* Having thorough knowledge of the development and implementation of Asset structures, Planning Standards, WBS, and Planning processes in an enterprise.

* Experience in implementing Cost and Resource Loading in Primavera P6.
* Experience in implementing Earned Value Management tools.
* Strong leadership and communication skills.
