The Senior Legal Counsel provides expert and professional legal advice, guidance and support to ensure that the legal and reputational risks faced by the area of coverage are identified, reported and mitigated. This role will report to the Managing Associated General Counsel that is responsible for Fixed Income, Currency and Commodities (FICC) matters across HSBC's Markets and Securities (MSS) Europe business. In this role, you will: Be the primary lead lawyer and trusted business partner to the GFX business in London across the entire spectrum of the business stakeholders, including Sales, Structuring, Trading, COO teams, Regulatory Compliance and other Legal team members, to advise on all relevant contractual and potential regulatory considerations. Ensure senior legal management is fully briefed on major issues arising in relevant business area and major legislative changes in area of expertise, and coordinating and collaborating on GFX matters with Legal colleagues across Europe, and Hong Kong, Dubai and New York. Identify new legal, regulatory and market developments that can affect business activities, and educate our business teams on how these developments may affect their business. Draft, review, and negotiate relevant contracts and related transaction documentation. Provide expert and professional legal advice, guidance, and support to ensure that the legal and reputational risk of the relevant area are identified, reported and mitigated. To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements: Qualified Lawyer with extensive experience. Experienced and confident practitioner in derivatives legal matters. Excellent negotiation and drafting skills and will have demonstrated the ability to take initiative and apply good commercial and legal judgment. Ability to handle a diverse range of issues, deal with new or unexpected situations and work under pressure. Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) and strong interpersonal skills.
