Role Description This role is responsible for governing, planning, and managing the outsourced operation of the organisation's cloud platforms, including designing and executing cloud strategy with suppliers. It involves optimizing performance, controlling costs, enabling cloud delivery models and driving innovation across cross-functional teams. This role offers the opportunity to shape and influence the organization's cloud strategy, driving innovation and leveraging cutting-edge technologies in a dynamic environment. It provides the chance to work with diverse teams, tackle complex challenges, and make a significant impact on the company's cloud transformation and growth. The role can be based anywhere in the UK, however, there is likely to be a requirement to work from the Guildford office approximately for 1-2 day per week at least 6-8 days x per month, and also a requirement to travel to other UK offices to attend meetings etc. when required. Salary Information Pay: Circa £90,000 Pay is based on relevant experience, skills for the role, and location. Salary is only one part of our total reward package. Key Accountabilities Strategy & Planning Lead cloud strategy implementation across the UK, in collaboration with vendors and Allianz Technology. Stay updated on industry trends and identify cloud opportunities or risks. Act as sponsor or key stakeholder for future cloud projects. Management Activities Set priorities for cloud technology development and maintenance in the UK. Evaluate/select cloud tools, vendors, and manage internal and outsourced services. Optimize cloud performance, availability, and cost-effectiveness. Drive continual service improvement and ensure best practices in cloud solutions. Common Activities Recruit and manage staff, ensuring performance measurement and development. Monitor IT budget, manage expenditures, and partner with teams for BAU cloud services. Foster continuous improvement and knowledge management within the team. IT Risk and Controls Manage IT risks and controls for cloud services and maintain up-to-date risk logs. Conduct regular governance and risk management sessions. Budget and Cost Control Monitor and report on cloud service budgets and control expenditure. Essential Skills Role Specific • Deep understanding of cloud architectures and operations across leading platforms like Azure, AWS, and/or Google. • In-depth knowledge of cloud monitoring, optimization tools, and strategies. Strong understanding of cloud security standards and best practices. • Sound knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code. • Solid understanding of IT risk management processes. • Experience managing third-party vendors, especially offshore. • Expertise in outsource vendor governance and management practices. • Strong grasp of IT security management processes, practices, and technology. • Proficient in IT contract and license management and negotiation. Degree level or equivalent appropriate experience. Masters level degree in a relevant professional discipline is desirable BCS or CII qualifications are desirable Experience Operating at a senior level in the IT arena within a regulated industry managing contracts and suppliers finances. Working closely with and influencing senior stakeholders across a large multi-national commercial organisation. Providing contractual and commercial level expertise Large scale IT budget management Managing IT in an outsourced service environment. Implementing, managing and exploiting IaaS, PaaS and SaaS implementations in multi-cloud and hybrid cloud environments. Driving and leading cloud adoption and exploitation across large organisations. Dealing with IT vendors of differing sizes and ranges of IT disciplines – infrastructure, application development, IT maintenance and asset/configuration management. Managing third party service provision – especially offshore, internal business stakeholders and parallel workstreams.
