Duty Manager - Independent Health Club (Surbiton, KT6) Salary: £30,000 Benefits Location: Surbiton, KT6 Our clientis a well-established independent health club in the heart of Surbiton. We are seeking a proactive and experienced Duty Manager to oversee the daily operations of the club. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will ensure a smooth, safe, and enjoyable experience for members and staff alike. Key Responsibilities: Member Experience & Engagement: Act as the primary point of contact for members, staff, and visitors during shifts. Build strong relationships with members, ensuring a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. Handle and resolve member feedback or complaints professionally. Team Leadership & Support: Lead, manage, and motivate the team to deliver exceptional service aligned with the club’s values. Provide hands-on support to team members, covering duties where necessary. Supervise and mentor Reception and Cleaning teams (shared responsibility with another Senior Duty Manager). Operational Management: Oversee all areas of the club, including the gym, pool, F&B, squash courts, nursery, reception, beauty services, and cleaning teams. Conduct regular facility checks to ensure cleanliness, safety, and maintenance standards are met. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, acting as the Incident Manager in emergencies. Manage the club’s opening and closing procedures, ensuring security at all times. Carry out routine pool tests and provide operational support where needed. Events & Finance: Oversee club events, ensuring smooth execution and security. Support energy efficiency by ensuring equipment, lighting, and air conditioning are used effectively. What We’re Looking For: First Aid and Defibrillator Certification (essential). NPLQ or Emergency Responder qualification (preferred). Fire Warden Certification (preferred). Customer service training or experience in a similar role. Preferred Skills & Experience: Previous supervisory or managerial experience in a health club, leisure, or hospitality environment. Strong leadership and communication skills to inspire and motivate a team. Understanding of health and safety regulations (training provided if needed). Food Hygiene qualification (or willingness to obtain one). Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure.
