We are looking for an experienced Commercial PropertySurveyor to join our team to deliver the programme of strategic assetmanagement for the portfolio ensuring the estates meets property legislationand statute and is managed effectively to maximise occupation, best practice,value for money and financial efficiency. The role provides a challenging andrewarding opportunity to work on varied property types across Great Britain.You will support the team in all property related matters including disposals,acquisitions and landlord tenant matters and contract management of agentsacting on DVSAs behalf. The successful candidate will need totravel to estates locations at various points when required. Responsibilities will include but notbe limited to: Providing strategic advice,management, support and vision on the utilisation, development, and day to dayestate management of the portfolio. Representing the DVSA aslandlord or tenant in all matters associated with its commercial land andproperty assets including negotiations of new leases, lease renewals, rentreviews, legal and property disputes and valuation disputes. Undertaking acquisition of landand buildings to achieve objectives of the DVSA and asset management plan. Managing property disposalswhether freehold or leasehold, optimising capital receipts within an agreedtime frame. Influence and agree closure strategy with Operational andEnforcement delivery teams. Providing valuation/appraisals,business cases and reports for all purposes. Representing the Agencyinternally and externally, where requested/required as subject matter expertproviding expert advice, support guidance and vision to reach solutionsbeneficial to the Agency. - Review, maintain and disseminate awareness ofproperty and relevant estate management and works legislation, case law andstatutory requirements. Person specification About you You will be experienced with working ina professional property function, capable of working across a diverse portfolioof estates. You will understand the wider impacts of disposals and acquisitionsand be able to communicate this across departments when putting business casesforward. You will have excellent interpersonalskills, be a confident communicator, and someone who will be able to engage andsuccessfully negotiate and influence with a range of stakeholders. You must be willing to gain membershipof the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors or alternatively you alreadyhold the MRICS or relevant commercial property management degree. You will have previous experience incommercial property management and managing commercial lease and licenceagreements. You should have working knowledge and experience of ensuringcompliance with all legal and regulatory requirements in relation to themanagement of the property portfolio. You will have proven budget and contractmanagement skills; financial and property related. There will be some travel involved dueto the nature of the business, so a full driving licence is required. Additional Information Location information - The Birminghamoffice is based at Garretts Green. This role can be based in Birmingham(Garretts Green), Bristol, Leeds, Newcastle, Nottingham or Swansea, yourpresence at one of these locations will form part of the working arrangementsagreed with you. This role is suitable for hybrid working, and therefore acombination of workplace and home-based working can be accommodated subject tobusiness requirements. Hybrid working is a non-contractual arrangement whereemployees have the flexibility to work remotely combined with a minimum of 60%of their working time a month at either their principal workplace (one of thelocations cited in the advert) or, when required for business reasons, to carryout separate duties at alternative working locations or DVSA sites.
