We are looking for a highly motivated healthcare assistant to join our busy hospital team. The post requires the successful candidate to work predominantly within the Minor Injuries Unit/Out Patients Department to carry out minor injury treatments such as dressings, plastering, general observations, and triage. There will be the requirement to work on the in-patient wards.
You will be able to demonstrate a real enthusiasm and ability for ongoing professional development as the successful completion of in-house training is an essential requirement of the role.
Successful candidates will have substantial experience as an HCA within a hospital setting. Experience of working in an urgent care environment is desirable. An ability to work under pressure in an emergency setting and a willingness to undertake further skills training is essential.
Shifts will include working long days across a 7-day period.
This is a full-time post at 20 hours per week.

Main duties of the job
The provision of assistance to the MIU/OPD trained staff within the minor injury unit/outpatient department in planning, delivering, and evaluating care. Providing the booking in of patients and attending to patients' general needs in the OPD. All interventions will be carried out to a high standard under the supervision of the trained MIU/OPD practitioners. To provide A&C support as needed to members of the team. This role will involve ward support at times.

Person Specification
Education / Qualifications and Relevant Experience
* GCSE Maths and English or equivalent qualification
* NVQ 3 in Health Care, or Equivalent
* Previous experience as a HCA within a hospital setting
* Experience of working in an urgent care environment / out-patient department / ward environment
Knowledge and Abilities
* Computer literate and ability to use web-based IT programmes
* Ability to use PAS and Oceano
Skills and Aptitude
* Fluent in English language - written and verbal
* Able to confidently work alone at times within the outpatient department
* Able to remain calm when patients may become angry or upset
* Able to competently organise and carry out designated workload within the scope of training
