Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for a confident, highly motivated and experienced Pharmacy Technician with exceptional communication skills and a keen interest in defining and optimising the role of the Clinical Pharmacy Medicines Management team at Scarborough Hospital. This is an excellent opening to utilise and further develop skills in leadership, team management and service improvement to support the Clinical Pharmacy strategy for the organisation. Full time hours are available, part-time would be considered but applicants must be able to work a minimum of 30 hours per week across at least 4 days. You will work closely with the Principal Pharmacy Technician in York and the Clinical Pharmacy Technician manager to standardise and make service improvements cross site. Main duties of the job This role requires a Pharmacy Technician who can take responsibility and leadership for the Medicines Management team which includes Medicines Management Technicians (MMTs) and Medicines Management Assistants (MMAs). This team works alongside Pharmacists to deliver the Clinical Pharmacy Strategy and ensures patients receive safe, effective and timely medicines. You will also support junior and trainee pharmacy staff. Excellent leadership and management skills are required to plan and support the Medicines Management team and identify new and innovative roles to maximise the potential of the clinical pharmacy workforce. This role will include defining the MMT and MMA service with clear measurable metrics, overseeing and leading the day-to-day service including planning and monitoring daily staffing rotas, managing annual leave and study leave and to be the first point of contact for the team on matters relating to service provision. In addition to this, this role involves reviewing and developing SOPs and supporting the education and training requirements of the team. This role does include regular patient facing ward based MMT commitments. In addition to this you will also complete unlicensed medicine release on a rostered basis and have accuracy checking commitments. A requirement to participate in weekends and bank holidays on a rotational basis will be necessary.
