Head of Student Records, University of Oxford
£54,315-£62,698 (including an annual Oxford Weighting of £1500, pro rata for part time workers)
About the Role
You will be responsible for the University of Oxford’s student records which are a crucial testament of our students’ learning and assessment achievements. The accuracy of our student records is essential for many things, including student loans, student welfare, academic transcripts and visa applications. It is also used for management reporting and informing strategic and policy developments.
You will be responsible for three teams that manage and curate the University’s student records within a complex environment with multiple systems of records and a devolved administration. These three teams manage the on-course academic record; the final records for alumni (including the university’s graduation ceremonies); and submit large data returns to the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA).
You will be a key player in promoting data standards leading on the development of policy and practice in student record matters in Oxford, to ensure that services offered meet the standard of excellence expected, and that academic integrity of the records is maintained at all times.
You will have responsibility for leading the review and analysis of operational processes to provide effective services for staff and students; to inform the development of enhancements to supporting systems; and to propose and lead policy changes where appropriate. You will be a key contributor to the University’s Data Strategy Implementation Programme leading on the response to identified recommendations.

* draw on your stakeholder management and negotiating skills to persuade and influence the organization and colleagues at all levels to the benefits for change.
* have awareness of the issues relating to the provision and analysis of data/records especially in relation to quality assurance and enhancement, data protection and information security. Strong critical and analytical skills with a methodical approach to investigating problems and resolving issues.
