Job Overview
We are seeking a candidate for our Ophthalmic Technician role, working 24.5 hours weekly, including two days from 8am to 6pm and one day from 8am to 1.30pm.
The role involves working with diagnostic machinery in ophthalmology. Prior knowledge is welcomed but not essential, as training will be provided. The role also includes learning to perform eye tests in clinics and assisting in intravitreal injections as part of the circulating team.
The salary starts at Band 2 during training and progresses to Band 3 upon completion. Please note, this role does not qualify for sponsorship.
Main Duties
* Perform patient tests following training and competency assessments
* Operate visual field, OCT, Optos, and Anterion equipment
* Support team colleagues and work within clinical settings
* Assist with injection procedures as a circulating team member
* Manage patient scans on various ophthalmic machines
* Communicate effectively with patients undergoing diagnostics and treatment

Qualifications
Essential: Care Certificate (upon appointment or within 12 weeks), Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy (GCSE English and Maths Grade D-G)
Desirable: Face-to-face assessed Care Certificate
Knowledge, Training & Experience
Essential: Understanding of confidentiality, commitment to caring for visually impaired, willingness to undertake further training, awareness of health & safety, healthcare experience
Desirable: Venepuncture skills or willingness to learn, basic eye knowledge, familiarity with Optos
Skills & Abilities
Understanding of team working, workload organization, initiative, communication skills, basic IT skills, flexibility for late shifts and weekends
