Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Engineering Technician to join our Bristol-based biotech company developing next-generation IVDs for bloodstream infections.
The role involves fabricating, assembling, and testing prototypes, microfluidic chips, and test rigs while maintaining workshop operations. Key responsibilities include operating laser cutters and 3D printers, calibrating and maintaining workshop equipment, assembling and troubleshooting prototypes, conducting small-scale production of microfluidic chips, and supporting engineers with fabrication tasks.
Responsibilities:
* Fabricate, assemble, and test prototypes, microfluidic chips, and test rigs
* Operate laser cutters and 3D printers
* Calibrate and maintain workshop equipment
* Assemble and troubleshoot prototypes
* Conduct small-scale production of microfluidic chips
* Support engineers with fabrication tasks
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree or completed apprenticeship in engineering or related field
* Experience in a workshop or lab setting
* Excellent attention to detail
* Proficiency with high-precision components
* Small-scale manufacturing experience
* Hands-on experience with engineering tools
* Strong teamwork and communication skills
* Basic software proficiency (e.g., Excel)
Preferred Qualifications:
* Familiarity with CAD software
* Experience in metrology or precision measurement
* Background in biomedical or diagnostics development, particularly with microfluidics or microfabrication techniques
* Knowledge of ISO-13485-compliant quality management systems
This is a permanent, full-time role based in Bristol with a salary of up to £32,500.
