Central Services Librarian
About the Position
Our Libraries team are looking to recruit a part-time Central Services Librarian for our Central Services team located at Karrinyup Library. The hours for this position are:
Thursdays – 9.00am- 5.06pm
Alternate Fridays – 9.00am- 5.06pm
This key role supports the Technical Services Librarian and Central Services team, ensuring library services are run efficiently and effectively, meeting organizational and community objectives. This position assists the daily operations of Central Services and is responsible for providing specialized centralized technical services to Libraries and Community History.
Key Responsibilities
* Responsible for cataloguing of library materials, statistical information, subscriptions and eResources as directed by the Technical Services Librarian.
* Assist the Technical Services Librarian in the overall management of Central Services staff, including branch procedures, library materials, and financial/budgetary resources to deliver technical services to Libraries and Community History.
* Develop and deliver innovative ideas and best practices, cataloguing, reference and information services to the public as part of the cultural, educational, and informational functions of the Libraries and Community History.
* This position assists with the ongoing functions and maintenance of the automated library management system as directed by the Technical Services Librarian in liaison with the Information Management & Technology Coordinator and the Librarian Strategic Projects.
* Provides input and feedback for Central Services staff to contribute effectively to the overall operations and ongoing development of the Libraries and Community History Service Team.
About You
The following qualifications and experience are essential, but if you have commenced your studies or are nearly finished, you could still be eligible for this role. Please apply; all applications will be considered.
* Tertiary qualifications in Library and Information Science, demonstrating eligibility for Associate Membership of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA).
* Strong commitment to customer service excellence, innovation, professional development, and best practice in library service delivery.
* Advanced skills in communicating effectively, professionally, and accurately both verbally and in writing.
* Knowledge and understanding of cataloguing standards and procedures.
* Advanced skills in using Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, internet, and library-specific technologies.
* Previous experience using library management systems.
This permanent position is a Level 6 Inside Workforce Agreement position which attracts a salary from $85,751.72 gross pro rata per annum plus superannuation.
