Technical Support Manager
Position Summary
The Technical Support Manager will be responsible for setting up and maintaining a global service partner support infrastructure. The chosen candidate will assist in diagnosing, repairing, servicing, and creating work instructions for approved service partners. They will work closely with the Product Experience and Engineering teams to facilitate field reporting data.
Additional duties include traveling to Marketing events to support Singer products at track and marketing events to perform component testing, track days, and client interactions in a manner that demonstrates, “Everything is Important.” This is a fast-paced and exciting role which requires a consistent level of performance and quality with a strong emphasis on customer satisfaction.
This position is onsite in Daventry with some travel.
Essential Functions
* Develops and Implements Support Infrastructure: Designs and oversees the infrastructure necessary to support Singer’s authorized service network in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining Singer reimagined vehicles.
* Leads Technical Support Operations: Serves as the primary liaison between the Product Experience team, Engineering, and Singer’s global partner network, ensuring efficient remote diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair solutions for vehicles in the field.
* Drives Continuous Quality Improvement: Establishes processes for documenting failure causes and corrective actions, providing structured feedback to the Engineering team for upstream quality and product enhancements.
* Oversees Diagnostic and Validation Processes: Manages the use of electrical and mechanical diagnostic equipment to test, validate, and improve vehicle systems, ensuring service teams have the necessary tools and training.
* Manages Vehicle Inspection Standards: Establishes protocols for thorough vehicle inspections, ensuring accurate reporting of required repairs and preventive maintenance to maintain the highest service quality.
* Develops Service Procedures & Work Instructions: Oversees and documents full vehicle tear-downs, repairs, and upgrades to create and refine work instructions, standardizing service practices across the global partner network.
* Enhances Remote Diagnostic Capabilities: Leads the development of remote troubleshooting and repair strategies, ensuring the global network is equipped to address all manner of electrical and mechanical faults efficiently.
* Fosters Cross-Functional Collaboration: Works closely with internal teams, including Engineering, Product Experience, and Quality, to align service operations with company-wide objectives and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Manages Field Support & Event Readiness: Plans and coordinates technical support for on-location vehicle repairs, customer events, and vehicle development programs, ensuring seamless execution and customer satisfaction.
* Executes Additional Strategic Initiatives: Performs other duties as assigned, contributing to the evolution of Singer’s service operations and technical support capabilities.
* Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required Education/Experience
* Bachelor’s degree, technical training certificates or equivalent in engineering, motorsports, or automotive.
* Six (6) plus years of professional work experience in a similar automotive, motorsports, or engineering role.
* Experience with engine and body control systems, ABS, ESP, data acquisition, hardware, and software tools.
* Experience with Motec, AEM and Mahle and Bosch vehicle systems.
* Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in driving a manual transmission vehicle.
Preferred Education/Experience and/or Certifications
* Prior experience with Porsche vehicles.
* ASE certification or equivalent.
* Prior experience in a rapid growth environment.
* PCAN Explorer and ETAS INCA experience.
* CAD, CATIA, or Solidworks experience.
Skills/Abilities and Attributes
* Excellent mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
* Computer skills and familiarity with Office 365.
* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
