The Department of Mechanical, Materials and Manufacturing Engineering is a dynamic and fast-growing department, seeking to contribute your talent for further development. The department offers BEng (Hons) Product Design and Manufacture (2+2, 4+0) and BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering (2+2, 4+0) programmes covering mechanics, dynamics, kinetics, thermodynamics, energy, fluids, materials, manufacture, ergonomics, and design. The department has strong links with corresponding departments in the UK and Malaysia campuses of the University of Nottingham.
We seek to appoint an associate professor in mechanical engineering, preferably with international experience in teaching at a higher education institution. The appointee will be expected to contribute to teaching and curriculum development for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, supervise undergraduate and master's dissertations, conduct original research in appropriate fields, and play a lead role in collaborative research projects, leading to high-quality publications and grant income. The individual will also assist with the administration of the Department of Mechanical, Materials and Manufacturing Engineering and contribute to the Department’s growth in Mechanical Engineering.
The candidate must have a PhD degree in a relevant engineering discipline and possess excellent communication and presentation skills in English. Experience supervising PhD and Master students, as well as teaching, tutorial, or laboratory work at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in an international English-speaking institution, is preferable.
In addition to the salary, an attractive package including employment support allowance, schooling support, and insurance will be provided for international appointments.
The post will initially be offered on a fixed-term contract with the University of Nottingham, Ningbo China for a period of five years starting from April 2025 or as soon thereafter. This contract may be extended on an indefinite basis by mutual agreement.
