We are seeking to recruit a number of Student Support Assistants with a passion for supporting children with special needs at a SEN school in Hailsham. This is a brand new special school, working within a purpose-built new school building, teaching across various age ranges.
You will be part of a team responsible for developing, improving, and delivering innovative provisions for children who are not succeeding in mainstream education and require a nurturing, positive approach to achieve the best outcomes.
We are looking for devoted, resilient staff capable of utilizing therapeutically based teaching strategies combined with a caring, understanding, and nurturing approach to classroom and behaviour management. The successful candidates will be excellent practitioners committed to meeting the needs of pupils experiencing behavioural, emotional, learning, or social communication difficulties. The ability to motivate pupils towards high achievement is essential. Strong administrative, organizational, and communication skills are also vital.
Role Purpose and Role Dimensions: The Support Staff for Conflict Resolution and De-escalation plays a crucial role in maintaining a safe, supportive learning environment within our SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) therapeutic special school. This role involves promptly de-escalating conflict situations and resolving issues to enable pupils to return to their classrooms and continue learning. Duties may evolve over time based on changing requirements, and the person may be asked to perform additional duties as necessary.

All pay rates are inclusive of statutory holiday pay. This is a temporary position, with potential for permanency later.
