The Essex and Suffolk Elective Orthopaedic Centre at Colchester Hospital will be one of the largest centres of its kind in Europe.
We have fantastic opportunities for experienced Theatre Practitioners or Scrub Nurses to join us as Senior Scrub Practitioners in preparation for when the centre opens.
You will support the management of speciality based In-patient operating within orthopaedic theatres. You will be expected to manage and provide support to daily service delivery within each Theatre suite and will be supported by and reporting to the Theatre Leads.
We would consider a Band 5 -6 developmental post for the right candidate.
To join our friendly theatre team, you will need to be a motivated, confident and flexible individual with experience in an operating theatre environment. You will need to either be: NMC registered (RN1) or HCPC registered.

The Dame Clare Marx Building that will house our elective orthopaedic centre (ESEOC) opens in 2024 with a focus on elective orthopaedic surgery and day cases. The centre will have eight laminar flow theatres, three wards, recovery facilities, and support services including radiology and EBME.
Main duties of the job
1. Ensure that a consistently high standard of patient focussed care is delivered in a professional, safe, timely & effective manner, underpinned at all times by best practice & in accordance with Trust policies & procedures
2. Monitor the quality and timeliness of service provided by the Elective/Emergency Orthopaedic Theatre Service; participating in audits (Local, Trust & National), service improvement initiatives, focus groups & forums aimed at optimising service delivery & or the patient experience.
3. Work to support the Theatre Leads in ensuring that the clinical & operational needs of the Elective/Emergency services are met, optimising patient throughput & productivity, thereby supporting the Trust in sustaining national targets
