Dementia Support Hampshire & IOW is a small independent charity that provides peer support, information, and signposting for people living with dementia and their families in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Peer Support Coordinator to oversee and coordinate our peer support group in Farnborough.
The successful candidate must have experience working within a group, ideally in being a group leader and organising events and activities, and the ability to manage and lead a small team of volunteers.
Lived experience of living with dementia through caring for a loved one with the condition would be advantageous.
This role would suit someone who has experience working in a care home as an activity coordinator or has experience working in a charity that provides peer support, information, and advice.
Duties
1. Coordinate our weekly Support & Social Group.
2. Lead and supervise a small team of volunteers, ensuring the smooth running of the Group.
3. Organise outings, Christmas Party, Christmas Carols, and other events and activities as required.
4. Maintain accurate records of Group attendances.
5. Assist with form filling to help people claim relevant benefits.
6. Update our CRM database and complete all relevant paperwork.
7. Get involved in fundraising events and campaigns to help raise funds to ensure the long-term sustainability of the Charity.
Experience
1. Previous experience in working within a group, ideally in being a group leader and organising events and activities.
2. Proven ability to manage teams effectively while fostering a supportive atmosphere.
3. Be able to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously.
4. Ability to work as part of a team within the group you lead and with internal and external contacts.
5. Be able to advocate for individuals and help them navigate the health & social care system, access eligible benefits, and provide a listening ear.
6. Must have experience of using Outlook, Word, Excel, and CRM's (Charity Log).
7. A passion for providing compassionate support for people living with dementia and their carers is crucial.
Other Requirements
1. Must have use of own car to be able to take equipment to/from the Group each week.
2. Must be physically able to set up/take down tables and chairs at each group session and carry equipment from car to venue.
3. Be happy to store equipment at home (art & craft trolley, refreshments, activity materials).

Pay: £12.50 per hour
