Position: Business Applications Manager
Location: Hatfield, Hertfordshire (Hybrid Working)
Salary: up to £65,000 (depending on experience) + Benefits
Seeking a passionate and dedicated Business Applications Manager responsible for overseeing, advising on and coordinating the support and maintenance of software applications within large organisation.
This role is crucial for ensuring that applications meet the business requirements and technical standards set out by IT and commercial strategy and that they meet performance expectations and standards. This role is critical to ensuring that planned - and unplanned - maintenance activities are undertaken in a timely, efficient and controlled manner.
The role will have a high degree of focus and commitment to maintaining and managing business critical applications. This includes oversight and support for Dynamics 365 F&O, Workday and iiPay, and any associated system integrations. This role will also be required to liaise and communicate with key support staff whose focus is on other systems, and use their comprehensive knowledge of business operations and system functionality to help coordinate and conduct system maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee the execution of application-related proactive activities (service status checks to key application management), with particular focus on the key business systems mentioned above.
* Oversee application lifecycle releases, other business/project led changes to ensure systems operate and function in accordance with the latest developments,
* Prioritise, manage and escalate as appropriate, the response to critical incidents to minimise downtime and impact on business operations,
* Identify recurring issues and perform root cause analysis to prevent future occurrences, presenting and escalating findings as required,
* Develop and maintain support processes and procedures to ensure consistent and efficient service delivery, working with the systems support team to spread and embed knowledge,
* Manage and perform application configuration work within scope
* Prepare for and participate in audits related to application support, maintaining accurate and clear system logs and update/deployment schedules
* Oversee test management and execution, particularly for activities related to key business systems mentioned above.
* Collaborate and work with product vendors and Application Management Services provider and/or any ISVs for 2nd / 3rd line incidents
* Collaborate, coordinate and manage the service requests with Application Management Services provider and/or ISVs
Skills & Capabilities
* Strong understanding of application architecture, databases, and software development methodologies,
* Several years of experience in application support, IT service management, or a related technology field
* Experience working with D365 F&O, Workday and iiPay (experience of all three systems is not required, but candidates should have relevant experience using at least one, and should have knowledge of and/or experience of similar systems in the case of the others)
* Experience in leading and managing a support team (or related team/group) is advantageous to demonstrate leadership and ability to coordinate,
* Confidence to liaise with and manage service provider relationships on behalf of the business,
* Experience managing multiple applications, spotting and fixing defects, prioritising issues and escalating as appropriate
* Developing and managing a team, including line management of key personnel,
* Experience in dealing with priority 1 issues, disaster recovery procedures, etc,
* Release management expertise and experience, particularly in the context of wider business change and transformation,
* Experience in overseeing testing and deployment of applications changes and upgrades, whether planned or unplanned.
Qualifications - Whilst none of these are mandatory as part of this role, nor is this an exhaustive list, the following qualifications would be beneficial to a successful candidate:
* Software & Systems Management: ITIL Service Management, Certified Information System Manager (CISM)
* Technical Qualifications: Such as DMBS qualifications, certificates in SQL or other coding languages, Microsoft or other industry recognised ERP/CRM qualifications (e.g. MB-700, PL-200, AZ-305 etc)
* Project Management: PRINCE2, AgilePM, PMP
* Candidates with change management and/or compliance and security qualifications should also reference these if applicable
