At Leonardo, we have a fantastic new opportunity for Project Engineering Lead (PEL) to join our team within the Customer Support and Service Solutions (CS3) line of business. CS3 operates across the UK, providing innovative and invaluable support solutions to our customers. We help to ensure the availability of front-line capability wherever and whenever required.
This role will be part of the Navigation Project Team working on the Laser Inertial Navigation Artillery Pointing System (LINAPS). As a Project Engineering Lead, you will be critical to our success and responsible for creating a supportive environment that motivates our engineering team. You will lead engineering activities for technical elements including software, hardware, and systems, and be a point of contact/technical interface with a number of global customers. You will be responsible for maintaining a positive working relationship across all internal and external stakeholders, managing work packages, and completing project updates in support of customer contracts and delivery schedules.
What you’ll do as a Project Engineering Lead:
* Manage, drive, and prioritise Engineering work packages in accordance with operational and contractual obligations to deliver and improve product and capability.
* Produce effective, efficient, and realistic plans to deliver the solution and communicate these to Engineering Management to ensure forward load is correct and resources are available.
* Work closely with the Engineering Manager and Chief Engineer to make and enact decisions quickly within the project.
* Promote an environment of continual development and support the growth of knowledge and expertise across the team.
* Maintain a positive working relationship across all internal and external stakeholders.
* Produce engineering plans, estimates, Statements of Work, and supporting documentation.
* Prepare and deliver monthly reporting and metrics to engineering/project management.
* Support engineering management on Planning, Risk, Scheduling, Forward load, Work Package management, and Design Reviews.
* Mentor and manage the performance and development of the engineering team members.
* Maintain project compliance with the company policies and procedures, including life cycle management.
* Support Programme Design Reviews to ensure project drivers are fully understood, considered, and the impacts of any associated risks are reduced.
We would like to hear from you if you have a combination of the following:
* Demonstrated experience in the Design, Development, and Certification processes throughout the engineering lifecycle.
* Proven communication and negotiation skills at all internal and external levels.
* Demonstrated ability to work in multi-company collaborations or partnered working environments and building strong trusted relationships.
* Experience of multifunctional team management with skills and strength to supervise, coach, train, and motivate teams.
* Self-motivated with an aptitude for problem-solving and driving difficult issues to conclusion.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience of delivery to a variety of audiences.
* Enthusiastic and self-motivated with a strong ability to foster and develop effective working relationships with both external and internal stakeholders at varying levels of seniority, while working in challenging environments with often fluid priorities.
