Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Cancer Practice Development Team as a Band 6 Nurse.
We are seeking a self-motivated, and committed individual with a passion for teaching, assessing, and supporting staff in practice. You should have significant experience in Oncology and/or Haematology. You will be competent in delivering Systematic Anti-Cancer Therapy. Strong leadership, management, and communication skills are essential. You must also possess excellent interpersonal and clinical abilities, with the capacity to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
This is a pivotal time to join the Cancer Practice Development Team and contribute to the advancement of Oncology and Haematology-focused education and training.
Main duties of the job
1. Facilitating education at clinical and directorate levels to ensure effective, patient-focused care.
2. Developing and delivering chemotherapy, oncology, and haematology-focused education and training.
3. Facilitating the recruitment, induction, orientation, and supervision of newly employed nursing staff within the Cancer Directorate.
4. Supporting the ongoing development of the existing nursing workforce.

Person specification
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse
* Relevant teaching & assessing / mentoring course
* Relevant post registration qualification in cancer care or acute care
* Systemic Anti-cancer Therapy(SACT/Chemotherapy) competency
* Cell re-infusion competency
Experience
* Substantial experience within oncology/haematology or acute care
* Evidence of leadership/shift coordination experience
* Evidence of informal teaching to all grades of staff
* Bone Marrow Transplant experience
* Experience working in band 6 role
* Education or training role
Knowledge
* Advanced knowledge of cancer and haematological disorders, treatments and side effects, or willingness and ability to learn
* Understanding of practice development processes
* How to motivate others
* Care of BMT patient
Skills
* Excellent interpersonal & communication skills
* Sound leadership skills
* IV drug administration, venepuncture, cannulation.
* Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment (SACT) administration or a willingness to gain
* Central Venous Access Device (CVAD) access or a willingness to gain
* Organisational & problem-solving skills
* Work Autonomously.
* Computer literacy (MS word and Excel)
* Care of patient undergoing CAR-T treatment
* Intrathecal chemotherapy competencies
* Evidence of participation in audit or research
* Evidence of developing guidelines or policies
