The Faculty of Humanities has recently received a new £4.73m University investment in AI Trust and Security to drive the Faculty’s vision to be a research leader in this field. The investment will help us to build an interdisciplinary research team working in the broad field of AI Trust and Security to build on our existing strengths in Digital Trust, Security and Society. At UoM, we see AI security as part of a set of broader issues of trust and trustworthiness, distrust and trust exploitation, and trust-building and resilience, and promote an interdisciplinary approach to these issues. The new investment will form part of a cross-cutting cluster within the Centre for Digital Trust and Society, and will include new research and teaching staff, funded PhDs, postdoctoral positions and investment in high-performance computing. As part of the new investment, the Faculty of Humanities is pleased to offer up to 3 AI Trust and Security Research Fellowships (up to 3 years in duration) for outstanding postdoctoral researchers within 4 years of their PhD. Fellows will need to work with a named mentor / mentoring team and propose a project addressing a major challenge linked to AI Trust and Security.
