General Dynamics in St Leonards-on-Sea currently provides avionic mission computing systems for a wide range of military fast jets, helicopters, and UAVs. Recent success has resulted in General Dynamics developing the next generation of Advanced High Performance, Safety Critical Mission Computer Systems to meet the needs of the latest platforms in development by several aircraft manufacturers. These Mission Computing Systems provide the functionality that integrates aircraft systems, sensor systems and stores management systems with the information and control systems required by the aircrew to meet the demanding operational needs of these aircraft.
Job Description
This position will allow you to play an important role in our highly motivated production team. You would be working on the build/assembly of both avionics systems and land based armoured vehicle communication systems. You will apply your soldering skills and assembly expertise to the many different types of product which pass through our manufacturing department. Your responsibility will be to ensure our products are assembled correctly and meet all our quality requirements, before they move on for testing. You will be expected to follow both written instructions and drawings/schematics to meet the required assembly standards expected in our industry.
Qualifications
* An ability to solder electronic components, mainly surface mount, down to 04/02 and occasionally, 02/01 dimension. The ability to replace/re-ball ball grid array (BGA) devices would be desirable.
* Wiring and cable assembly skills.
* An understanding of mechanical and electronic drawings.
* Review and provide ideas for improving build processes.
* Act and make decisions upon your own initiative.
* Excellent capacity for problem solving combined with report writing skills.
* Capable of working on numerous tasks in parallel.
* Familiarity with IT and some knowledge of the Microsoft Office toolset.
Additional Information
This role of Production Technician has a starting salary of £25,000 to £29,500 dependent upon experience and an attractive flexible benefits package.
