Are you an occupational therapist committed to working in mental health and keen to use your professional skills to support individuals’ recovery?
Are you interested in being involved in service innovation and part of bringing change to local mental health delivery?
Oxford City + NE Adult mental health team are leading the way locally having created a team of occupational therapists and experienced support staff to provide mental health reablement interventions. This team provides short, intensive, activation focussed interventions to support service users to increase, reconnect to, or initiate activities of meaning to support recovery from a period of mental health distress.
The team is embedded in the AMHT working alongside the core delivery provided by MDT key workers, team managers and the medical team to support service user recovery.
Part of the role is collecting evidence to support the local evaluation of the reablement model using a combination of patient reported outcome measures, wellbeing scales and occupational therapy assessments. You will contribute to collecting the evidence for the impact of the intervention for service user recovery alongside providing wider evidence for the effectiveness of occupational therapists in community mental health.
The Band 6 Reablement Occupational Therapist will:
1. Provide specialist occupational therapy assessment and treatment interventions.
2. Lead the ‘recovery through activity’ group program.
3. Carry a complex caseload as a member of the MDT.
4. Supervise members of the team.
5. Support the development of the occupational therapy service provision within the setting.
We know that many roles for occupational therapists working community mental health do not provide the ability to draw on these core occupational therapy skills. We are keen to support occupational therapists who want to step into roles that use their profession specific skills, alongside their mental health practitioner skills. If you are interested but unconfident about this step or want to know more to know if this is the role for you, then please get in touch.
