Are you a proactive and organised Fleet Manager, Transport Manager or Logistics Manager, looking for an exciting new challenge being responsible for overseeing and supervising fleet activities to ensure the safe operation and compliance of the vehicle fleet? You'll be part of the senior management team, reporting to the Directors, and playing a pivotal role in shaping the company’s vision.
You’ll have strong knowledge of fleet operating systems, Road Transport and Environmental Legislation, LGV and HGV maintenance procedures as well as experience of preparing budgets, forecasts and month-end reports. But mostly importantly, you’ll be a team player.
As the Transport Manager, you’ll be responsible for:
* Fleet Management: Ensure all vehicles are roadworthy and in compliance with regulations, manage defect reporting, schedule MOTs, monitor OCRS scores, liaise with DVSA inspections, and oversee external maintenance contractors.
* Supplier & Contractor Relations: Maintain strong relationships to ensure efficiency and quality.
* Driver Leadership: Monitor driver hours, arrange training and CPC programs, manage performance, handle disciplinary actions, check licenses and background checks.
* Health & Safety: Develop and maintain H&S policies, oversee inductions, training, and accident reporting.
* Fleet Accident Management: Collaborate with insurance providers and third parties.
* Administrative Duties: Maintain tachograph and maintenance records, oversee vehicle rotas, manage defect logs, and generate monthly reports.
* Senior Management Support: Provide advice on transport-related issues and fleet efficiencies and stay updated on legal obligations.
Key skills required for the Transport Manager role include:
* In-depth knowledge of fleet operations, road transport regulations, and HGV/LGV maintenance procedures
* Budgeting, forecasting, and reporting expertise
* Outstanding organizational, presentation, and communication skills
* Flexible, calm, and positive approach to problem-solving
* Multi-tasking and leadership capabilities
* Strong attention to detail
* Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
* Experience in waste or construction industries is a plus
